SX ULPGN

The new SX-ULPGN Wi-Fi® IoT module is a low-cost, ultra low-power single-stream solution with 802.11 b/g/n supportbased on the QCA4010 radio from Qualcomm Atheros. This module integrates a full Wi-Fi stack, full networking/security stack, and embedded CPU and memory for on-chip application development.


HOSTLESS MODE For STAND-ALONE IOT APPLICATIONS

The SX-ULPGN’s internal CPU can act as a host with the application running from the internal memory. Peripherals and sensors connect to the CPU using any of the available interfaces. Hostless mode eliminates an external MCU to achieve the lowest system cost.

UART AT COMMAND SET FOR EXTERNAL MCU BASED IOT APPLICATIONS

Using our UART AT command option, customers can quickly add a serial-to-Wi-Fi converter for their existing MCU based designs without porting any host driver. SX-ULPGN can offload the host MCU by performing all of the Wi-Fi related tasks such as network stack, security, and authentication.

EXTENDED FUNCTIONAILTY

You can extend SX-ULPGN functionality based on your application needs. The module currently supports the AllJoyn® application framework. In the coming months, the SX-ULPGN will also support Homekit and Google Weave and work with several partners for Cloud Connectivity.

SX-ULPAN


The SX-ULPAN is an ultra-low power, dual-band 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi® module with enterprise reliability based on QCA4004 System-on-Chip (SoC). It supports the 5GHz frequency band, which is less crowded than the 2.4GHz band, and offers less interference, better speeds, more stable connections, and often better battery life.


INDUSTRIAL TEMPERATURE SUPPORT

The SX-ULPAN is designed to support industrial temperature range from -40°C to +85°C making it an ideal solution for applications in harsh, industrial environments. The module’s small form factor, rich features, and ultra-low power make it perfect for portable battery-operated devices.

OPTIMIZED SPI DRIVER

For customers using the SPI host, Silex has optimized the SPI driver to include power save modes, access point mode, and increased throughput (up to 10Mbps). The latest driver update also includes multiple bug fixes to provide a better customer experience.

The SX-ULPAN-EVK is an evaluation kit designed to evaluate the Qualcomm Atheros 4004 chipset in conjunction with the Freescale Kinetis MCU. It features Silex’s own optimized radio driver and support, Freescale MQX OS support, and demo applications.

The SX-ULPAN-SHIELD is a Wi-Fi module-based adapter board designed to plug into Arduino-compatible boards that contain a microcontroller (MCU), such as the Freedom development kits from NXP (FRDM-K22F) or boards from other MCU vendors that are Arduino compatible.
